Cereal & Wine Pairings
If that is not the most sophisticated title you have ever read you might be in the wrong place. Kidding! I am aware this sounds perhaps a little odd, maybe even a little gross to some, but this is some very important content that I have been working very hard on. I don’t want to brag but I am a bit of both a cereal and wine savant. Is that the right word choice? Clearly not sophisticated enough to understand the english language but that is veering off topic. What I have done here for all of you beautiful people is pair cereal classics (or what I consider classics / choose to eat often) with some exceptionally delicious wines and I think I have done a pretty darn good job (if I do say so myself) #humble. Screenshot this, add it to your grocery list, whatever you have to do to remember these perfect pairings for the perfect lazy lady, late night snack, dinner, etc (and thank me later).
HERE WE GO . . .
Honey Nut Cheerios - Saintly Rosé. Basic but cheerful. I think this would be a nice vacation snack. Late night, out by the pool a glass of rosé and a happy bowl of good old Honey Nut. Honestly I am getting a little ahead of myself and daydreaming of what I will hopefully be doing at some point later this winter . . . who’s with me?
Cap’n Crunch - When we went to NOTL this summer we went to The Hare Wine Co and the “Frontier Riesling “ was one of my absolute favourites (and I am not even a huge riesling fan) anyways, paired this was Cap’n Crunch and my goodness chefs kiss. It had a very delightful flavour combination that was fruity and light and just the right amount of sweet . . . A dessert option if you will.
Shreddies - This cereal may seem a little boring, a little safe, but for me it is a classic staple which is why I choose to pair it with a wine staple in our house. Pleasant from start to finish pairing my shreddies with my J. Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon.
Frosted Flakes - Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. Another go to for me. I’m not sure why but this almost had an after taste of creme brulee, is that crazy? It could be but still was a decent and pleasant surprise when the flavours combined, definitely worth a try!
Mini Wheats (brown sugar) - Since cereal is of course in the traditional sense meant to be a breakfast food I thought ending on a breakfast note only made sense. What is better than a mimosa on a weekend morning? Well a mimosa and mini wheats as it turns out. I know it is not technically wine but it just felt right. Pro tip: Mimosa recipe - full glass of Blu Giovello Prosecco with a small splash of OJ.
Well that’s it that’s all . . . Please head over to the gram and let me know if you try any of these combos, or even better yet, go and comment your already favourites and go tos (wine or cereal or both, I’m easy). This was so much fun and hopefully the kind of content you are here because right now it is all I’ve got. Cheers and Cheerio (see what I did there - awkward wink face, k, I am leaving). Happy Monday babes.
xo.
