Nashville Round-Up
If you follow along on my instagram you know that my husband and I just very bravely drove from Muskoka to Nashville with our three children and survived! You know what, dare I say it, we thrived (LOL). We had the absolute best adventure with our babes and we would do it all over again. More on the actual road trip portion of this trip on another day but for now I wanted to share some of our Nashville (and area) favourites both to do with your kids and without. There was a ton we of course did not get to because we had the kids with us and depending on the type of trip you want to take will depend on the activities you want to get into but I have a pretty good sense of the area and what it has to offer.
Full disclosure my aunt lives in Franklin, TN, about 20 minutes south of downtown Nashville so we do have pretty amazing (and free) accomodations when we visit. If you want recommendations on where to stay hit me up because I do know some wonderful spots. Alright let’s get into it, food, drinks, shopping, and everything in-between.
Basically every trip that I take revolves around what food we are going to eat and if that is not the basis of every trip you take we are probably not the same kind of people, food is important so don’t at me. Nashville and the surrounding area do not have a shortage of amazing places to delight your palate and I know I am missing a ton of great spots but here are some of our favourite must-trys from this last trip.
Five Daughters Bakery - probably the best donuts I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth and let me tell you I have tried a lot of donuts. There are actually two locations. The one at 12 south is definitely the one you will see on the gram but there is one in Franklin that is also super adorable and trendy and sometimes less busy so depending what you are wanting out of the experience both locations give you the same delicious donuts. 12 south definitely has the best insta vibes though so if you are there for great donuts + the gram that is the spot.
Wanna Spoon - This was very on brand obviously and there was no way I was not going in to try it. Located directly across from Five Daughters it made for a very sweet afternoon (literally). The instagram moments here were also perfection (there is a giant spoon to sit in outside, even if you don’t want to go in for the cereal - ice cream, milkshakes, they have options! - you will want to be there for the spoon sitting).
Frothy Monkey - Close by to the last two mentions this was a great spot to grab a coffee to go or sit for a delicious brunch. They are pretty packed all the time and I am not sure if they take reservations so expect a little wait, but it is worth it.
The general area around where all these places were was absolutely awesome and definitely a must visit for more than just food.
Other noteworthy food stops include Jeni’s Ice Cream, Legendary Milkshake Bar, Puffy Muffin, Radish, Lou Nashville, Whiskey Kitchen, Biscuit Love Gulch . . . okay I need to stop but there is way too many AMAZING places to eat!
Obviously a trip with our three children did not lead to any wild nights out but I have been here a time or two before I was an old mom and there are some unreal places to let loose at (I mean they don’t call it Smashville for no reason). Message me for more on this LOL!
If you are heading out on a girls trip book White Limozeen. Reserve the pool, get the drinks, just trust me. And just go check out their instagram when you are done here, it is to die for!
Instagrammable spots in Nashville are around every corner so truthfully you don’t need a guide for this, just go for a walk and pick what you like . BUT I have a few personal favs . . .
The angel wings you see in everyone’s Nashville pics, for me, are getting a little over done and there is always a huge lineup so I would personally pass on them but I know that might just be because I have “been there done that” kinda thing. No judgement if this is on the top of your list they really are super cute. You can find them in “the Gulch” (a super trendy must see neighbourhood). Right beside the angel wings location is the store Kittenish and inside it are 2 or 3 seriously cute insta-worthy moments. Plus it is an adorable little shop. Thank me later. As I mentioned above Five Daughters and Wanna Spoon have the cutest instagrammable walls so they are definitely places you do not want to miss if this is important to you. Another favourite for me is Love Shack Fancy. Not only is it the cutest shop and my personal dream aesthetic but the inside and outside are picture perfect. I grabbed myself and Scottie a fancy & stylish treat from here and have no regrets!
Shopping is another something Nashville and the surrounding area are abundant with. We personally love going to the smaller towns and even smaller neighbourhoods. The Gulch of course is a great spot to shop with celebrity owned boutiques like Kittenish and Uncommon James, but also I love downtown Franklin. It is such a quick drive and it has absolutely adorable shops and just an overall gorgeous, all-American, aesthetic. The Factory is home to another Five Daughters Bakery location and has an abundance of other cuteness to explore. We found an adorable children’s boutique across from the Factory and let’s just say the kiddos were a tiny bit spoiled.
I could go on and on but Nashville seriously has something for everyone it just depends what you are looking for! I was truthfully so unsure if we would love it as much with the kids but dare I say, we loved it even that much more just being able to experience it with them. There are also some wonderful hiking trails and parks in the general area that are pristine! Brentwood (maybe 15 minutes South) has some of the best parks for the babes to play at and is a necessary stop to ensure everyone burns some energy. If you are going in the summertime be sure you are staying somewhere with a pool, Nashville is HOT baby. If you want to know more about our trip or some other favourite spots hit me up on the gram. I could talk about this place for hours. Honestly trying to figure out how we can move there at this point. Kidding, but not really . . .
Now head over to the gram and tell me your personal Nash favs! Who is making the trek there (with or without kids!)? Road trip portion of this adventure coming soon, until then . . .
