Shop Small

I know we have all heard it a million times before but I am going to say it again, shopping small makes a HUGE difference. Supporting local and small businesses is literally injecting money directly into your community. Not only that but those businesses that work so hard all year long to bring joy to their communities in more ways than just selling them stuff do a literal happy dance when you purchase something from them. That is just straight facts, I can attest to it. SO, before you go and jump on amazon for your stocking stuffers or hit up H&M for your holiday outfits, take a few minutes to think about intentionally shopping and take notice of whether you are able to support small business. I want to also note there are lots of ways (LOTS) to support your favourite business that cost nothing at all. Engage with them on social media, share their products with someone that may be in a place to purchase something, add items from their businesses to your own holiday wishlist, the list goes on! ANYWAYS, why am I going on and on about shopping small (besides the fact I own a small business LOL). Because I want to take some time to share my favourites with you! See below a list of my favourites small businesses (both local and afar) that I am sure would be beyond grateful for your support this holiday season. In no particular order here are ten amazing small businesses I think you will love and should support when and how you can this holiday season!

  1. December Sun - If you haven’t seen me shouting from the rooftops how amazing this children’s clothing boutique is then hear me now, it is the CUTEST.

  2. Pink Lemon Decor - One of the most adorable small businesses for home decor including holiday decorations, run to their website and thank me later.

  3. Maggie & Kaye - Hot tip treat yourself to some new sheets from here, you will not regret it.

  4. The Creative Cook - If you are looking to spice things up in the Kitchen with premium products this local to me little kitchen boutique is where it is at (the owner also happens to be so lovely!)

  5. Fancy That - This little shop is located in Kingston and one I personally love! They have a similar vibe to my own business in the fact they are family owned and operated and honestly they are just lovely!

  6. Lenny & Hume Photography - Okay maybe not a shop but still a small business. This photography based business is owned by one of the most talented friends I have and she is offering gift certificates this holiday season! I do not think I can stress enough how important family photos are. You will cherish them forever.

  7. Jibe Studio & Gift Boutique - Another local to me business, Jibe is a treasure in our town! The entire vibe of the Jibe shop is uplifting and wonderful and the owner is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet.

  8. Pure Balanxed - A brand I have come to know and love and a wonderful small business to support. If loungewear is a lifestyle for you, you need to check them out! Oh did I mention they are sustainable and made in Canada? They are.

  9. Minds Alive Toys - Instead of purchasing all your littles toys and things at walmart or amazon consider checking out your local toy store. This is ours and we love them dearly. If you have a puzzler in your household like Beau they have an AMAZING selection.

  10. Belle’s Boutique - Okay you know I couldn’t leave Belle’s out. Tiggs & Belle’s would love to help you find goodies for anyone and everyone on your list. We have curated a pretty epic selection this holiday season if I do say so myself.

A lot of these businesses will have some black friday sales happening this week (but even if they don’t consider supporting), so it might be a great time to jump onto their websites or pop into their storefronts to treat yourself or your loved ones to something special! Shameless plug: Belle’s sale is happening online Thursday night and it is a GOOD one. Head over to my insta and let me know your favourite small shops!
