The Coat Edit

Going to go back to a little fashion situation on here for today because I am seriously OBSESSED with the coat scene this year. From the classic to the fashion pieces this season’s coats are unbelievably beautiful. A lot of the trends right now feel a bit more timeless which is of course amazing when making a bigger purchase. Purchasing pieces that will last and will stand true for seasons to come is always the goal. Of course some pieces are more fashion than timeless but I cannot lie, that is always fun too.

This year we are seeing everything from faux leather to the cutest teddy bombers and I am super here for it all. I think I have a small coat addiction from the number of jackets I ordered alone this season but, I mean, YOLO right? Full disclosure all of these are from Belle’s but I think they speak for themselves in being amazing. If you live somewhere that is absolutely freezing in the winter (like me, I am so lucky) sometimes your jacket is a third piece to your outfit. 9 out of ten times I am not taking mine off so I feel like investing in some good ones really elevates your winter style, or at least that’s what I tell myself. Here are five of my current favourites and why (but honestly the list goes on and if you are in the market for a cute coat, I’ve got you covered, hit me up babe!). Anyways, let’s go . . .

Kicking off with the “Ellis” jacket by Gentle Fawn. This coat has the perfect combo of colour, cozy and cute! Although this piece feels a bit more “on trend” than a timeless, I can see wearing this for seasons to come. The colour is so pretty and the teddy/bomber combo is just the cutest! What do we think?

Next on the list, the “Dolman” jacket by Free People. I have this jacket in three colours. Probably not reasonable but at this point I have thrown reason out the window and just live in these beauties. There is something about the quilted and oversized vibe that makes this jacket a real cult classic. I am obsessing over the vibrant purple colour this season.

I get some people are over shackets to a certain extent but you cannot convince me that the perfect shacket cannot make or break an outfit. Especially if you are like me and want to wear your coat as a third piece and never take it off. Investing in something special is key when you create a capsule wardrobe and for me Rails pieces always take the cake. The “Connie” shirt jacket is IT. Just trust me when I tell you this piece will last you a lifetime and it is the perfect combo of classic and fun with the plaid pastels.

Okay one more free people favourite because it is another one I have in multiple colours and firmly believe it is a necessity. The “Ruby” jacket. This is the lightest weight of anything I am talking about on here today and is definitely easy to layer under a winter coat as well. It is effortless and once you have one you won’t be able to stop, you’ve been warned.

Last but not least a surprise favourite for me was the “Mikayla” jacket from Gentle Fawn. I shouldn’t say a surprise because I definitely knew I loved it when ordering but I didn’t think it would be such a keeper. This jacket is one I will absolutely be holding onto. Also probably helps that the Salty Blonde loves it too, IYKYK.

Quick round of honourable mentions because I feel like this season is the most epic season for coats. You need to go check out in store ASAP, anything Steve Madden, including the Eldridge, and then the absolutely epic long puffer vest by Circle of Trust, OH and the gorgeous new Rails teddy jacket landing this week, just trust me!
