Watson is ONE

I thought it might, maybe, just possibly, be a tiny bit easier when your second baby is turning one . . . Ya, I was wrong. Already sobbing typing this. Having a baby during a pandemic has been a wild ride to say the least. On the one hand there are so many days that heave felt longer than ever, while on the other hand I have been given this gift of extra time with my children that I never in one million years would have had. “The days are long but the years are short” is the truest quote I have ever heard. If you’re a parent I assume you’ll agree. Like seriously, where the heck did the last year go???

Watson is a sweet, chubby, ray of sunshine and absolutely has been the light in a year of darkness. I know for so many parents it has felt lonely, it has felt long, it has felt exhausting. It has been sad being away from the people we love, it has been heartbreaking to not have the ones we care about around for these huge milestones. Without question there have been many hard moments. BUT thank goodness for these pandemic babies. They have brought purpose to our days, smiles to our faces, and most importantly they have allowed us a reason to push through this sacrifice to know there are so many better days ahead.

I felt a little guilty Watty wasn’t getting the huge first birthday blowout that Beau did but I know in my heart all that matters is how much love he received and let me tell you, it was A LOT! So grateful to have had the stay at home order lift just in time to have a very small group of our best friends around to celebrate our little buddy. Our friends we had not seen in almost an entire year were here! The day was filled with babies laughing, kids playing, toys everywhere, moms sneaking a beer (or two), and just the most love we could have ever hoped for. Here’s a little look into Watson’s big day. It was not as “instagram” worthy as I had envisioned but it was more perfect than I could have ever hoped for.

I will also preface this with the fact I could not for the life of me decide on a theme for his birthday so it was very wishy-washy but I think it was kind of cute? Kind of?

SOUND THE ALARM . . .

CLEAR THE WAY . . .

WE ARE ALL HERE TO CELEBRATE WATSON’S 1ST BIRTHDAY!

Most of the day looked like absolute chaos which is why I included the last two pictures cause #reality. Head over to the gram to see the water fight that ended the party (it was the best!). I am so curious what everyone is doing for their littles celebrating milestone birthdays during yet another year of the pandemic. You know where to find me, see you on on the gram!

Happy birthday to my baby. Thank you for being our light, you are so loved.
