Who I Love to Follow . . .

Social media is obviously flooded with millions of accounts, people, bloggers, influencers, shops, etc, etc, etc, to follow. For me, this sometimes feels overwhelming. I like to keep my feed diverse and filled with everything from fashion to motherhood to what is happening around the world. I want to feel inspired when I open up my feed. I, of course, follow all of the bigger influencers that we have come to know and love (hello The Birds Papaya & Jillian Harris - I mean those are the most important two right?) BUT there are so many accounts with smaller followings that are fun, inspiring, engaging, and all that good stuff, to follow too! SO . . . what I wanted to do today is share some of my favourite babes (and dudes) to follow right this minute. Lets face it, we are all spending a heck of a lot of time on Instagram (hello Lockdown) so we might as well be amused while we are doing it.

Here are my favourite accounts to follow, in no particular order, and why I dig em’ . . .

1. Sara Wells - @blondehanes - Sara is the perfect combination of fashion, mom life, and behind the scenes realness. Her feed is adorable (as is her baby girl Poppy), she loves dogs (winner, duh), and speaks out on what she believes in. I recently worked with her at Belle’s with some gifted products and she was beyond sweet. OH and she has some great recipe ideas saved to her highlights, thank me later.

2. Moonshine Vintage TO - @moonshinevintageto - This little vintage shop has the cutest pieces and has become one of my favourite accounts to peruse late at night while my baby is not sleeping. I’m not sure what it is but recently I have been obsessing over vintage everything. If you are in the market for any unique pieces or just like to look at pretty odds and ends, this is the account for you.

This adorable mini sink is from Moonshine Vintage and I just think it is the cutest! I use it as a little ring dish, it was such a good find (IMO).

3. Filipa Jackson - @filipajackson - Okay, where to even start with this babe. Her family is so sweet, she is absolutely adorable herself and the best part of it all she is so REAL. I believe she has over 100K followers at this point (beyond deserved) but she is super upfront about everything she has going on always and it is refreshing to follow her. It’s not always rainbows and sunshine but following her feels like you have a new friend and I look forward to her stories and posts each and every day.

4. Adrienne Neufeld - @adrienneneufeld - If you follow me on instagram you know how much I love this babe. She is HILARIOUS! Like so hilarious, I have peed a little in my pants watching some of her reels. She does the most hysterical impressions, she mocks everything (in the best way), and just keeps it one hundred while doing so. She is seriously one of the best accounts for a laugh and a little light, which we all need right about now, don’t we?

5. Tay Little - @littlewhitetees - Taylor is a local (to me) babe who I had the pleasure of collaborating with this past fall. To say I love her style is an understatement. And although I might try, I will never be as effortlessly chic as this woman. She has the cutest blog and just a great all around instagram feed. Also my outfit inspo for this blog post is a replica of Tay’s! You will not be disappointed when you pop over and see her very pleasing aesthetic.

6. Mine and Yours - @mineandyoursco - They are a luxury resale shop in BC but their instagram feed gives my Chanel obsession life. They of course have an online shop too and have some really fun sales in their instagram stories quite regularly! Now just so my husband doesn’t have a heart attack this is an account I follow to dream about all the things I cannot have, but still, it is very fun! Give them a follow and let me know what you think!

7. Bryan Russell Smith - @bryanrussellsmith - If you aren’t following him, you need to. I do my best to recreate some of his hysterical reels but truly I can never do them justice. He is a video content creator for @betches and just all around content super star. He has kept me LOLING through lockdown, enough said.

8. Susan Elstob - @islapearllife - Susan and I crossed instagram paths at the end of 2019/ beginning of 2020 when I was planning a style clinic at Belle’s to happen in April of 2020 (we all know how that turned out, thanks Covid . . . ) Anyways, despite not getting to host her at the shop last April she was still apart of our rescheduled event this past winter virtually and I cannot wait to work with her again. Her account is inspiring, uplifting and effortlessly fashionable.

9. Dominique Baker - @dominiquebaker - Honestly this woman is flawless and just and easy follow. Her skin is a dream (and her skincare knowledge is so helpful!), her health and fitness is inspiring, and her fashion sense is expensive (in the best way, hello Chanel). Also she is based in Ottawa, ON which has a special place in my heart (where my Carleton grads at?) Anyways, follow her, you’ll like it, trust me.

10. Hayden Cohen - @hayderz - One of my favourite accounts to follow all day, every day. He loves reality television (almost) as much as I do, he makes fun of influencers (but he is one), and is just down right amusing to watch on stories. If you need a good laugh he’s your guy. Oh and he has an unhealthy obsession with OTH which I wholeheartedly support and think I will rewatch the entire series ASAP (consider me influenced).

Seriously he is the most adorable & hilarious human alive, the end.

I think ten is a nice number to leave it at and truly I could go on and on. Despite the mess that is social media right now there is a lot of wonderful people, shops, and even dogs (we’ll save that for another day), to follow along with and brighten your day. I think it is so important that we remain vigilant on what is happening around us and be aware of what we need to do to make a profound impact. On that same token I also see the importance of finding joy in the little things right now and being able to escape some of the heaviness that is going on and for that reason alone I think these ten accounts are a great place to start.
