Top 10 Holiday Movies
I am well aware this could be very controversial but I think it has to be discussed . . . Let’s not drag it out then shall we? Here is a list of the top 10 holiday movies, dare I say, of all time. AKA here are my top 10 favs in order from last to first. I know I am missing a ton of classics but it is just so hard to decide. We had a few heated debates at our house over this list but I am sticking to these . . . for now . . . number 10 is likely no one’s favourite but mine and I don’t care, but DO NOT argue number one, it is number one, period.
10. The Nightmare Before Christmas - Apparently people debate whether this is a Halloween or Christmas film but if you have a brain you know this is about Christmas . . . It is about Christmas right? Anyways, this one lands on the list for me more out of nostalgia than anything else. For some reason I loved watching this as a kid, matched my dark soul I guess. So here it is, landing at #10 on the list and a must watch, at least once, every year.
9. Love Actually - I mean, it’s Love Actually, you agree it belongs here right?
8. The Santa Clause - A classic . . . who wouldn’t love if their dad became Santa? Original only, not a fan of the sequels here.
7. The Grinch - OG all day long - Cindy Lou Who just hits the spot doesn’t she? Her kindness is just so pure and this year more than ever the classic Grinch lesson is so important to keep in mind . . . “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store, maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.” Appreciate my cheesiness okay? Okay.
6. Miracle on 34th Street (original and 1994 remake) - Another childhood classic at the Watson residence. We would often watch both versions one after another and for some reason I always loved them. Another add on for nostalgia reasons.
5. Home Alone 1 & 2 - Equally amazing for a variety of reasons. We watch both an annoying amount of times throughout the holiday season, usually starting in november as like the pre-game for the holidays . . . . It just doesn’t feel right picking a favourite. The OG is the OG but lost in New York with a Donald Trump cameo really just works for me. Who might be a little more partial to number two? Just a little, not need for alarm.
4. Elf - “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” I live the holiday season by this quote. Ask my family HA.
3. Four Christmases - I feel like making this in the top three might be a little bit of a rash decision but honestly every time Chris and I watch this movie we cry laughing. Like, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Tell me we are not alone on this? Go watch it, right now, report back . . .
2. Jingle All The Way - “IT’S TURBO TIME.” This might not be on everyone’s top ten (or even top 100) list but we watched this so many times growing up we wore out our VHS, twice. My dad loves this movie and it will forever be a must watch at Christmas at our house.
AND DRUM ROLL PLEASE (DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR)
1. Christmas Vacation - no explanation, this is number one.
Hopefully this was as fun for you babes to read as it was for Chris and I to fight about as I ignored all his opinions and stuck with my personal favourites. I cannot wait for you to share your favourites with me. Pop over to the gram and comment on my post about holiday movies right this second (or whenever you have a chance, don’t want to sound too pushy). Cheers to hot chocolate (with Baileys) popcorn and getting cozy with the fam in matching jams, all while fighting over which flick to pick. Happy holiday movie watching season everyone!
